Pineapple Matcha
Afternoon drink of choice: matcha, but step it up a notch. I’ve started using a protein matcha blend I really love (shoutout Truvani), and this weekend I really spiced it up with some fresh pineapple for the perfect layout, in the sun + work on my tan kind of beverage. This Pineapple Matcha is half matcha + half fresh pineapple whipped up with some almond milk. And it’s so good! What Summer refreshment dreams are made of. Disclaimer - must love the earthy flavor of matcha + must love that tropical, fruity pineapple sweetness, because both flavors hit the tastebuds hard. It’s sweet, creamy, and a fun way to do an at-home matcha.
Creamy pineapple goodness
This drink is all about the pineapple milk, which brings all the fun fruity flavor. It’s also the easiest thing to make. As simple as throwing everything in the blender, and by everything we’re talking pineapple + almond milk, giving it a couple pulses, pouring it over ice, and layering a perfectly whipped up matcha right on top.
I always use 1 cup of almond milk for my matcha lattes, and with this matcha protein shake it’s no different. I use a half cup of the milk to blend with the pineapple and the other half to blend with the matcha.
Other fun to note - I love to make this and throw in all my other supplements. For me, that really means adding in my scoop of collagen, and it’s the perfect drink for something like that if it’s your vibe. You don’t even know any extra goodies are there (which is kind of what you want), and it’s a fun beverage to sip on that’s good all the good stuff.
Don’t skimp on the big glass
This drink is super simple + pretty light, but it makes a LOT of match. I add in quite a bit of water to my matcha powder in addition to that almond milk, and I pour everything over ice, so the drink size is extra large. At our house, large mason jar is about the only thing that will do, so that’s exactly what I reach for.
It’s all about the pour
When you pour the match on top, it looks so pretty over the lightly colored pineapple milk. It’s like the big reveal for the whole thing. My photos don’t even do it justice. Just looks so pretty, and gives the girlie Summer matcha look that makes you happy to sip on. In other words, I felt cute drinking it, and will absolutely be making it again for the same reason.
Key to the layered pour - pineapple and almond milk mix goes over ice + gently pour the matcha over the top. And then mix it all up as you drink it - duh! So fun + such a good, healthy afternoon beverage. I highly recommend!
For 1 matcha
1/2 c. chopped pineapple
1 c. almond milk
1 scoop of Truvani matcha flavored protein powder (or a regular matcha powder)
1/2 c. water
optional: scoop of unflavored collagen mixed with 1/4 c. warm water
ice
Start by placing the pineapple + half a cup of almond milk in the blender. Pulse until the two are well combined, and there are just small bits of the pineapple remaining (no big chunks). Pour the combo into your glass over ice. Then add the rest of the almond, matcha powder, and water into the blender, and puree until perfectly smooth (adding in the collage mix if you want). Pour the matcha right on top of the milk, garnish with a little pineapple wedge, and drink up!
